Tariq is a native New Yorker and well known music devotee.
Quietly DJing around the city for years, you can hear a variety of eclectic influences in his music including art, graphic design, filmmaking and even the sounds of this crazy experiment affectionately known by the locals as The City. Hosted in places that are out of the way, or on" off nights" where people would discover the music organically, Tariq started Casual Disco over 6 years ago. As a setting for people who appreciate good music they are not familiar with he pulls from a collection of obscure and rare tracks to create a mixed bag with something for everyone to enjoy. Not to mentioned that Casual Disco always climaxes with a full dancefloor.
When Tariq is not filling the club, he works as an art director, graphic designer and filmmaker for various projects including a new Brooklyn-based online radio station, Newtown Radio. Here he produces a weekly radio show with the legendary disco man himself, D.C. LaRue, and is the acting program director.
